Additional Info: Johnson is nicknamed "Singapore Sousa". He has several Original March compositions under his belt. His Quick March "For the People, For the Nation" was awarded the Artistic Prize in the All Japan Band Association (AJBA) International March compositions competition in 2000.

Drafted into the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in 1989, he was recruited into SAF Music and Drama Company (MDC) as a Saxophonist, after completing his section leader course. He embarked into the realm of Pop and Jazz and worked with professional musicians like Tama Goh (Percussion), Teo Boon Chye (Saxophone) & Jeremy Monteiro (Jazz Pianist) and other International Artist.

1991, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall in London. He graduated from the Bandmaster Course as Runner-up in the MOD Examinations of the Derek Bourgeois Class & also bagged the Best Original Fanfare Award & the Fred Mortimer's Prize for Best Overseas Student Bandmaster. He also attained a "Diploma in Bandmastership" from the Royal College of Music, London

After he received his commission in 1994, he pioneered the Musicians Training Wing, and streamlined the training of musicians in the SAF Band. He was Chief Music Coordinator for National Day Parade (NDP) 1999 and Band Chairman in 2009.

He spear-headed the Heritage, Publicity and Multi-media office (HPMO) between 2000 and 2004. He restructured the Logistics Dept. after the SAF Band was relocated to their new home in Nee Soon Camp and is currently the Logistics Officer of the Band.

In 2001, he was appointed Music Director of the Singapore Airlines Group Band. He transformed the ailing Wind Band into a lively and entertaining Stage Band. He is also the founder of the Saxophone Quartet group, SQ4.

CPT Lee was awarded a 'Certificate of Commendation' for his contribution towards Brunei International Tattoo (BIT) 2006. To recognize his contribution, he was given a rare audience with the Sultan of Brunei, His Majesty, Hassanah Bolkiah at the palace. He was also invited to conduct the finale segment and shared the limelight with Lt-Col Patrick Pickett (Commandant, Australia Defence Force School of Music), BG Yu Hai and BG Zhang Zhi Rong (Bandmaster, People's Liberation Army Band) & Major Jaya Metusin (Director of Music, Royal Brunei Armed Forces Band).

Besides being a Captain in the SAF, he is also a Captain of lives. His volunteer team from Singapore Prison Performing Arts Center (PAC), was awarded the 'Best Initiative Award'; in 2007. In 2008, PAC prison members achieved astonishing results in the ABRSM Theory of Music examinations. Through music and the arts, CPT Lee and his team from PAC hopes to Rehab, Renew and Restart the lives of the inmates.
